Much better...kind of!

Well, the rest of this week has been much better than Monday. Tuesday was nuts also, but at least I didn't have to work in the afternoon. I hope nobody thinks I'm not completely in love with my daughter and my life. Because I am, I love Alana, and I have so much to be grateful for. But, and this follows the advice Elder Wirthlin gave in the last conference, I am not going to pretend I'm fine when I'm not. Some days are just nuts. :)

Last night was also nuts. For some reason neither Stuart nor I could sleep last night. For me, it was likely due to the nap I took yesterday. I never sleep well at night when I nap during the day. Alana woke up around 3, and we determined to let her cry. Stuart eventually went and got her, then asked if I thought she was hungry. I knew she wasn't, so I told him to put her back to bed. He did. 30 minutes later she was still crying. I went in to get her. After I picked her up, she grinned at me and cooed. Then she performed this little squirm move she does that means she wants to stand on the ground. I let her down, she grabbed my hands, and started walking. I said out loud "are you kidding me?" I then gently told her that we don't walk around the house at 4 in the morning. I really was quite calm too. Since I wasn't asleep anyway. I didn't even feel that tired, oddly enough. So I kind of let her play for a while, then tried holding her close and rocking her. She kept squirming and crying. Finally I was tired again, so I helped Alana say a prayer that she would be able to calm her body enough to sleep. In my mind I was thinking "but if not, at least help me to remain calm and be able to sleep." I had to be at school to teach orchestra at 7:30, and I am not known for being a nice teacher when sleep-deprived. Anyway, I put Alana to bed after that, then went to bed. It was 5 or 5:30 by then. She cried for a little while, then fell asleep, but I think I fell asleep first.

Whew! What a story, kudos if you read it! Needless to say, I am BEAT! So, check out Tami's blog if you want to see what Alana & I did today. Otherwise, enjoy the pictures and good night!
Nov. 15: Epperson Family Picture Day!
This is the way we stand by our crib, so early in the morning!

After a successful encounter with a banana and some peas...poor kid has my eyebrows...thanks dad!
Lana & Mama on Election day! I won't tell you who I voted for, but I will tell you he didn't win. And I'm seriously worried about the direction of our country...
