Absenteeism

If that isn't a word, then I just invented a neologism I suppose.

We've had quite the time the last few weeks! We attended Scotlin's funeral, which was both sad and touching, had a fun Thanksgiving with the Dear Fam at Taylor & Diana's, and spent a week in a cold town way up North! (DH had to go there for his job this past week, so we tagged along, stayed in a very nice hotel, and got colds from the sudden weather change!)

The Girl has started a new trick. Every time Sweet C cries, the Girl emits a high-pitched sound that is calculated to cause severe pain to your ears without quite bursting the eardrums. This scream is incredibly annoying. In other words, every time she screams like this I either want to tear my hair out or immediately silence her. Mostly I'm just getting good at pretending to ignore her though.

The Girl is also quite the little singer. This morning she sang all of "Twinkle Twinkle" to me, omitting only the articles, and maybe a few conjunctions. Yesterday morning we were eating breakfast in the hotel Lobby and she busted out "I am a Child of God." It was so sweet! (And then she spilled her Rice Krispies all over the carpet...ha ha!)

Baby C is as chubby as ever, and has actually gotten a little more fussy lately. We're not sure why, maybe a growth spurt? She still has the best smile around and we're going to dig out the 3-6 month clothes tomorrow to see if we have any winter clothes in that size. She is cooing like crazy and I've got to get video of her kicking her legs and flailing her arms. One look at her face while she's doing this and you'd think it was the most important task in the world, she's so intent! She also loves batting at toys hanging over her head.

This may be boring information to some, but right now our lives are pretty exciting. Each stage my children go through is so exciting!

DH is enjoying his job. He said to me a few weeks ago "You wouldn't recognize me at the office, I can't NOT make people laugh." I guess he's pretty funny. One of the reasons I married him, but sometimes between the stress of screaming children and running a household his humor is less than charming. Still love him though, and it was a good reminder for me to enjoy him more!!

Hey Crystal, I hope you don't mind, but I found your blog while on Julie's blog and I really enjoy reading your your insights into motherhood. I'm in the same boat and it's good to know that someone else is experiencing some of the same craziness that I am! I don't know if you remember that I was good friends with Julie in high school. Anyways, your girls are adorable!
