Night life at the Dearden's...

A friend once said to me "you must be a morning person." The statement was made because after about 8 pm I yawn about every 3 minutes and have difficulty paying attention to what is going on. It's true. In many ways I AM a morning person. For one thing, when I get going early, I am a lot more effective at accomplishing my tasks. Also, 95% of my inspiration comes before 10 am. (In fact, I have some of the most personal and needed revelation while I'm showering, how is that for strange?!) If my children were old enough to understand, they would conclude that they are much less like to be disciplined before noon. Funny? Yes.

But recent trends in our home have proved to be taxing for my morning-time personality (and I must clarify, I don't jump out of bed with a grin on my face at 5:30 each day, I'm just saying that when I do get up, I can face the day well!). Take right now, for instance. Both of my sweet girls are still napping. (Which is a rare treat, but I still feel a twinge of anxiety). The fact that it's 5:30 pm means that at 9:30 tonight, these two darlings will still be awake. Not just awake, but bouncing off the walls. And where does that leave me?

Tired. It's a mystery to me, and most definitely to Stuart, why I am not currently napping. Odds are 10 to 1 that the minute I lay down they'll wake up!

Just because I wish they weren't sleeping doesn't mean I can't take great joy in watching them sleep. They are SO cute! And besides, isn't that so paradoxical that I wish they weren't sleeping!? (If you know anything about the sleeping history of my little ones!)
