Silver Lake July 2012
Today we took the kids on a hike up to Silver Lake. We had a lot of fun, although Alana was less than impressed with "nature" (Specifically the dirt and mosquitoes!) It's funny because she has been begging to go to forests and mountains. She really did like it, but maybe a mile walk was a little too long for her.
It's a great hike if you're in SLC, it's up at Brighton up Big Cottonwood canyon. Perfect hike for young kids! Bring bug spray!
When I was a kid, I was always sad that my parents weren't into "outdoorsy" stuff. We never hiked or camped. I LOVE hiking, and so I want to pass that on to my children. I love being in the mountains. I'm not a big fan of camping, because it just seems like SO much work, and since Stuart is not into it, all the work would be mine. But hopefully we'll camp once in a while when the kids are older! I can't wait to be able to start serious hiking. Maybe next summer when I can leave the baby for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Hopefully I can get in some great hikes this summer, even if they are shorter ones!
