Recap

I've come to the conclusion that Alana is one of the funniest, brightest, most imaginative three-year-olds I have ever met! This kid is just so cute! Every day she amazes or delights me with something she says. I wanted to write down a few of our recent conversations before my memory fades.

First of all, Alana often has imaginary animals. If you "take" one of these animals, she will literally freak out. Our neighbor learned this the hard way, and in the end said "it's just air, I gave it back!" It may be air to us, but mess with Alana's baby horse, and you're in for trouble!

A couple days ago, Alana was telling me that she is married to Jacob (her first and only marriage choice at this point). But then, she mentioned that they don't sleep in the same bed. When I asked why, she said "Because I sleep with the horses."
"Where does Jacob sleep?" I inquired.
"With the chickens."
Apparently they will own a farm together. I'm not sure who gets the better deal with sleeping arrangements.

Last week we went to Hogle Zoo, and attended the Bird Show. Always fun (Except for the Macaw they have squawk in the microphone). Since then, Alana has been fascinated with birds, and more specifically bird training. She has a small bottle filled with buttons that are "bird snacks."
This morning, she was telling me about her Spanish birds. I'm pretty inquisitive myself, so I asked "What makes them Spanish?"
"The treats" she stated, matter of factly.
Assuming she didn't quite understand my question, I rephrased: "What makes you birds Spanish Birds?"
"They come from Africa."
Oh!

One thing we do pretty much every day is play house. It actually drives me a little batty, because I always have to be the kid, and Alana is the mom. Charlotte is usually the baby sister. It's almost impossible for me to pause the game in order to actually be the parent. Like when I need to save someone from getting hurt, or teach manners.

I hope I don't forget all of the cute things these little people do and say! They are so precious! As Stuart told me yesterday "This is the only time in all of eternity when they will be like this!" We are trying to enjoy it!

Amen. They are young for such a short time... I try to remind myself of this when I can barely keep my eyes open lately... :)

Alana is so funny. Thanks for sharing those cute quotes.
