We watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix over the weekend. It was well done, but it just isn't possible to recreate the magic that I experience when I read Harry Potter. The feeling is not the same, I didn't feel as emotionally involved in the plot or the characters' lives while watching the movie. Plus, I don't like the actor who plays Dumbledore. That just isn't how J.K. Rowling created him.
Speaking of Harry Potter, book 7 comes out this week! It's pretty exciting, considering the whole world is on pins and needles about what will happen. DH is convinced that Harry will die, because otherwise fans will want Rowling to continue writing about the Wizard. Not like she has to do what fans want, she is a billionaire anyway. I, however, do not think Harry will die. He can't, that would be too anticlimactic and everyone will hate J.K. Rowling. Plus, the prophecy said that neither can live while the other survives, so I think that either Voldemort or Harry will survive; and since good ALWAYS conquers evil in the end, Harry will survive. Maybe he'll be maimed, or all of his friends will die, but he will still be "The boy who lived." It's too depressing to speculate.
On a different literary note, if readers of this blog have not discovered Shannon Hale, they are definitely missing out. She is seriously one of the best authors whose work I've read. Her books include Princess Academy (which won a newberry honor and is just spectacular), Goose Girl, Enna Burning, and River Secrets. She has a new book out, but I haven't read it and I can't remember the title.
