Twenty-one Gun Salute

I don't know how I missed it, but I had forgotten that Grandpa had served in Korea!

I returned late last Sunday night from Bellingham. We were on the road a total of 38 hours between Thursday and Sunday (I never want to do that again...it was very uncomfortable!)

However, it was a great experience to see many family members I haven't seen in ages. Melanie was there with her girls Candace, Patricia, and Deprise. It was fun to see them and to meet baby Chase!

It rained a lot while we were there, and it rained during the drive home for at least 10 hours!

Grandpa's son Randy spoke about grandpa and read "The Cremation of Sam Magee."
Dad spoke about the resurrection. It was very powerful and comforting!
Julie, Whit, and I sang "Be Still my Soul." I love that song! Uncle Dave told some funny stories about Grandpa. I guess he loved cars with four wheel drive and was very adventurous. Grandpa was also an engineer. One of the coolest things was to learn that Grandpa believed in working hard and learning how to fix things for your self. He didn't want to pay anyone to fix something, but wanted to do it himself. But he understood that sometimes you had to step back and take a break so you don't get tunnel vision!
The military burial was very neat. The veterans shot the guns, and then folded the flag and gave it to Grandma! I'm just glad to know that Grandpa isn't in the ground: we will see him again!!
