Yay for Karen!

She doesn't know I am naming this post after her...oh well.
My friend Karen and I started jogging last Friday, and I'm loving it. I started jogging again a few weeks ago when school got out, but it was definitely hit and miss. Now we go 3 times a week at a designated time in the morning. We've been going to the track because we don't leave early enough to beat the heat, but it's great since there is a clock. I think I ran almost 1.5 miles in 15 minutes! Sweet!

Talking with Karen is also a bonus, as we are in a similar place in life right now, and she's really nice! I'm really grateful for communication. It's great. Stuart and I make sure to get in a good discussion every day and it really builds our marriage. Yesterday we were talking about what we'd do if we were rich. I've thought about it a lot. Of course I'd be able to help more people, but the one thing I would indulge in would be a maid. Not for the basic dishes, vacuuming chores, but for the deep cleaning things, I would hire a maid. I don't really hate cleaning...but I don't really make the time to deep clean things like the kitchen floor, or all the nooks and crannies.

On another note, I was recently released from primary after 3 years (bittersweet) and was called as the choir director. I was thrilled, mostly because I LOVE music but have definitely been neglecting that facet of my life. So I feel that the Lord is giving me a little nudge to focus on my gifts and develop them in a way that will bring others to him. I love music! Alana also loves music, if I haven't mentioned that before. It's amazing what singing "I am a child of God" can do to calm her down. I have been singing to her and playing her music since before she was born. In fact, it is my belief that Vivaldi's 4 seasons is what motivated her to flip her little body around so that she could come out the right way!!

more pics to come later...I'm having problems...

Good job! It just feels so good to run something--no matter how long or how far, huh? :) Keep up the good work. I would love to go run with you when we get back. I've had to adjust some since it got hotter here. We'll see how the 5K goes on the 4th. Are you going to run in the Freedom Festival? We should find a race to do together when I get back! Chris ended up signing up too, so if nothing else, it should be fun to get the boys out and about! It's Chris' first race ever, I'm hoping he won't push it too hard 'cause he hasn't done much running lately, but I'm proud of him for wanting to do it! I'm glad you and Karen are having fun together. It is nice to have other women to talk to and gain support from.

I'm super excited about your calling too, BTW--you've gotta get me to come sing :) I've been feeling like my interests/"talents" (it feels like forever since I've used them, are they still there?? I hope!) have needed some time and attention. :)
