Various thoughts and such

Today we witnessed the first bud of spring! How thrilling! While it may be a while before those tiny buds open up to soak in the sun and begin the process of photosynthesis, I can't help but be excited for the promise of new life...and the knowledge that winter isn't forever!

Alana can say bubbles. It is cute, and she loves them. Today she put the bubble wand in her mouth and I didn't even flinch (I'm grateful for the large "non-toxic" lable on the bottle of miracle bubbles.)

Yay for weather that's actually above freezing. Today I didn't have to pretend!

Yay for a talkative almost-1-year-old. Someone mentioned the other day that she was speaking Chinese. Oh the things she could tell us if we knew how to listen! I'm quite convinced she was calling for the birds to come out from hiding today. I had to explain that most of the birds aren't here right now, but they'll be coming soon. I can't wait!

We got a couple of bird field guides from the library last week. Now all we need is some binoculars. And birds.

Cats prowl our dumpster. Yuck.

This is how Alana took her afternoon nap today:

And as a side note, yesterday I told Stuart I was going to let Alana start crying it out any time it's time for bed. I've usually rocked her to sleep, but lately it takes like 45 minutes because I can't put her down until she's completely out! I think she overheard me though, because today I put her down awake both times and she didn't fuss for more than 30 seconds. One key may be making sure she's really tired. What a cute little darling.

Well, off to fold laundry. I'm sure I'll get plenty of help!! :)

Funny! Max use to sleep like that too. He sometimes still does, but only when he is really tired.
