Art by proxy

Last Saturday, September 17, 2011, my brothers Evan and Ben went through the temple for the first time. I was able to attend the session with Stuart, and Staci watched the two girls for us (we took Esther to the temple and Ben's girlfriend watched her in the waiting room for us.)

Afterwards I was trying to explain to Alana that Evan and Ben went to the temple to make covenants for themselves. But Mom and Dad went for people who had died and didn't get to go when they were alive. I had thought it went totally over her head, but my philosophy is to explain things simply as early as possible.

The next day I realized how well she actually did understand. She was playing with magnets and said to me "Mom, I'm doing an art project. It's for kids who died who didn't get to do art projects when they were alive."

Wow.

That is the cutest thing I've ever heard. I love that Alana! I also love how much kids understand, even if they seem like they're not getting it!

That is adorable! What a darling girl!

BTW, I was glad to read on Facebook that the transition to 3 kids has been easier than the transition to 2. That definitely gives me hope... :)
