Sleep, glorious sleep

This is a post about Esther. Dear little Esther. Troublesome, grumpy, frighteningly loud, and amazingly cute Essie. We love her. She drives us crazy.

On Sunday night, right about 7:30, we sat down for family scripture time. That is a time of the day when I wonder why we even bother, with all three girls running around, not listening, and ignoring us completely. Anyway, suddenly our Essie, who had had a rough day, declared that she was tired. I thought she was trying to get our of scriptures, but I took her to bed, and she went right to sleep. AT 7:30 pm! I thought it was a fluke and that she was just overtired. On Monday she was delightful, and didn't even have a major meltdown (just a few whiny moments, but otherwise she was so pleasant!)

Monday night, right at scripture time, she did it again. "I'm tired." I had to rock her for 15 minutes, but she fell asleep before 8 again! And slept until after 8 the next morning. And she was incredibly pleasant Tuesday!

So it is quite possible that all of our trouble with Essie has been due to her being overtired. It's funny because she has always had a hard time getting to sleep, and staying asleep. Maybe we are turning a corner. But I won't complain about her sleeping 12 hours at night!
