Raise your hand if...

You have noticed what most of my posts have in common? Do you have it? Go back and look carefully! Come on, it isn't that hard!!

Ok...?

I'll tell you: my sister, who is a fabulous writer, btw, informed me that almost all of my posts start with the word "SO." I could say it was to add style similar to the "and it came to pass phrase" in the Book of Mormon, except my use of the word "so" was COMPLETELY unintentional! Now I am really self-conscious about using that word. It's funny too, because I spent this whole last year trying to help 10-year-olds improve their sentence fluency by finding different ways of starting sentences. And yet, I totally martyr the sentence fluency trait of writing! This is turning into a Shakespearean tragedy!!

I did want to share something pretty cool that happened today. For probably the first time in my life, I felt like I was in a different country. My visiting teachers took me out to lunch at this SUPER authentic Mexican restaurant in American Fork. When we walked inside, it was like stepping through a portal that led directly to another country! It was sooo cool! We were the only "white" people there (I say that not to be racist, but to illustrate my point). Of course, nobody there thought it was weird that we were there, but it gave me a new perspective. I am so used to being in the majority. I speak English, I have light skin, I belong to the dominant religion in my region, the list goes on. But I think everyone should have the experience of being the minority, even if only for an hour. I felt almost like I was intruding on their culture or way of life. The people there were socializing, eating, taking a break from work. As I said, it was a neat experience. I suddenly feel so motivated to find my old Spanish book and start practicing verbs!
Wally: ?Puedo llamarte para practicar espanol cada semana? Hay una Senora en my barrio quien no habla ingles, y no puedo hablar consigo! Pero, yo quiero hablar con ella porque ella no esta una miembra de la Iglesia! See? My Spanish needs HELP!!

So, what's the problem??? (ha-ha!)

Love your blog...I'm glad you shared the address. You and Stuart are doing a great job. Enjoy the next few months (during the summer) that you are "somewhat" free....because school comes soon, and then comes baby Dearden....you will have fewer opportunities to have "quality time" for fun and precious times with each other as consistently....you'll have small tippetts of time here and there. Enjoy!
Love y'all.
