Esther October 2011

What can I say about our darling little baby? She coos and gurgles and smiles. There are three reasons that Esther cries: 1) if she's hungry; 2) if she's tired; 3) if she wants you to "talk" to her and get her to coo, gurgle and smile.

We've never had such a social baby, and we quite enjoy it. She's definitely our calmest baby, and the girls love to play with her and give her loves (sometimes a little too much!)

Her sleep is average for a new baby. She usually does a 5-6 hours stretch in her own bed, and then I bring her to bed sometime between 2 or 3 AM when she wakes up to eat. I definitely am hoping for longer stretches soon! But her sleep is so much in contrast to Charlotte, who wouldn't sleep 5 minutes on her own! Esther even takes longer naps on her own! I feel pretty lucky!!

When we first had Esther I was feeling like 3 kids was pretty doable. But with Stuart's return to work and cold weather coming on , combined with our minivan having MORE problems and not being able to go anywhere, I have felt stretched almost beyond my capacity to cope. Needless to say, whenever Esther sleeps I put a movie on for the other girls and either sleep, or try to get some housework done!! I think I'll get the hang of this eventually!

I'm so glad that Esther is such a good baby! But, how I hate car problems. Good luck with that... I hope life becomes a little easier soon.
