Alana's birthday details

Alana had a great birthday! She didn't have to go to school because of snow. Any snow here makes the roads really icy, and dangerous. Roads here are different than in Utah. They are very narrow, with deep ditches on each side and no shoulder. And most of the roads are pretty winding. So any ice on the road can be fatal.

Alana got an art kit for her birthday. It wasn't a surprise, because I had her pick it out. She also got lots of birthday money (like $30!) and a nature book from grandparents and family. Our friends, the Andersons, came over and played all day. It was great because Tiffany, the mom, has quickly become a dear friend. Another of my friends, Amy Chiodo, and her daughter Alyssa, came over and gave Alana a gift and some balloons. It was great for my little girl to feel special.

Alana is really a great girl! She is courteous, curious, and cautious. One of my favorite things about her is how she notices details around her and loves to talk about the things she learns. And she is always learning! She has a keen interest in the natural world and will spend hours listening to Magic Tree House, coloring and drawing, and writing in the journal she got from Grandma E. She loves to talk about the kids at school. Particularly Memphis, Kendall, Anayah, and Miracle.

One more year until this girl is 8! Can time just slow down a little?!
