Many people have posted on their blogs about President Hinckley this last week. I thought I would do the same, because I did end up watching his funeral, and was really touched!
I remember when President Hinckley gave us the 6 "B's". I can remember being there in the conference center multiple times when he would walk in, and the Spirit testified to me that he was God's living prophet on the earth. I felt so comforted that Heavenly Father would give us such a wise man to guide us as youth through all the dangers that threatened our way. I also remember how strongly he emphasized education. In fact, his emphasis has contributed to many of the goals Stuart & have for our lives!
Today I wanted to read about optimism (as I am trying to be patient and optimistic about the birth of this baby...I'll admit I just WANT her to be here already...).
Well, I went to lds.org and searched "optimism." The first thing that popped up in the search results was a talk by President Hinckley, most of which is well-quoted and remembered by members. I will just share the part I liked most: "I am asking that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life we “accentuate the positive.”
He also quoted his father: "Cynics do not contribute, skeptics do not create, doubters do not achieve."
The most important thing I have come away with at the passing of this great man, is to look forward with faith. I be optimistic, but remember there is work to do and I am the one to do it! Thank you President Hinckley!
