Our First Mother's Day

What a great time we're having. Despite the exhaution of being a full time mom and teacher for me, and Stuart's busy school schedule that has him leaving for London NEXT week (what will I do?!!) we love life and can truly thank our Father in Heaven for the great blessings we have ( a darling healthy baby, health, opportinity for education, springtime, eternal family, friends, basic needs to name just a few.)

I tend to get swept up in all the business, but wanted to take time to reflect on being a mother. I have known, ever since hearing the talk "Are we not all mothers?" that women have a special role in God's plan. I know I could fulfill that role even ifg I didn't have Alana. But right now I am holding this amazing sleeping baby in my arms and I'm a little overwhelmed and incredibly awed at the fact that she is mine to teach, love, guide, possilbly scold someday (I'm still in denial that I could ever get mad at her...I know, I know...). It really is amazing the feelings of love and charity that God has placed in our hearts!

So happy (late) Mother's Day to all women!

We were grateful to visit our families this weekend. I had a madrigal reunion with high school friends, which was great (thanks Jenni!). It was fun for Alana to spend time with everyone, Her grandpa Dearden calls her "Miss Intensity" because she gets such a serious look on her face when she is observing her surroundings. On the other hand, Grandpa Eppie calls her "Giggle Box" because she is SO ticklish! My dad's favorite thing is what I call "torture by tickle."

I love these pictures! The one of your little family turned out really cute! I especially love the one where Alana is playing the piano with her feet(which was totally Natalie's idea!) You should email that one to me! It was fun to see you yesterday! I love ya!

The first Mother's Day is the best! The boys step up to the plate and take care of things...you'll appreciate it more next year when she's into everything!!
