Now it's April

I always used to wonder why people even had blogs if they didn't update them at least biweekly. Now I understand. First of all, I don't have use of a computer all day as Stuart takes his laptop to school. Then at night either I'm too tired or Stuart is doing homework.

Anyway, my sweet little gal had a much better week this week. Monday was rough, but a top tooth poked through on Sunday. I used to wonder why mom's talked about teething. Who cares? Do you realize how much distress it causes to have a sharp thing cut through your gums? Ouch! And after her teeth come in there are scabs on her gums, suggesting they were bleeding at one point. Poor thing. Not only that, but this tooth has been bulging for 6 weeks. I'm so glad it finally came through! She's been happy, down to nursing only 2 times a day, and more playful and content. She's still pulling a little attitude, but we can manage that.

One delightful aspect of this age is language development. I took a class on this subject in college and was fascinated. Alana is figuring out that she can use language to get what she wants. She signs "more" and says "mo" for multiple reasons. 1: You have something she would like a bite of. 2: She wants more of what she was just eating. 3: She sees a cookie on the counter that she'd like to eat (ok, or fruit, she is a little fruit fiend!) 4: She wants you to throw her on the bed again. 5: she wants you to go hide so you can find her again.
Wow, at 13 months she's figuring out multiple meanings. Isn't this AMAZING?

A couple weeks ago Grannie and Grandpa D came to visit. She was very glad to see them, and even said "gapa" or something like that. Yesterday we went to see Grandpa E. I think at first she was confused that he was "grandpa", but he wasn't her other grandpa. (Obviously she has seen them both many times, but only recently has started to remember and bond to them). By the end of the day she was saying "gapa" and when we got home she saw a picture of my family and pointed to it and said "Gapa." It was so cute! She loves her grandparents!

That's our update for now.

Cooper has a few different meanings for more as well. Usually it means he wants something, or someone. It's incredible to watch his brain develop.
