I was ready to give Alana away today. I didn't even need money. That's how frustrated I was with her. As I thought about it, I realized I needed to pray for charity for my dear little child, who is, afterall, not quite three and still learning to manage her emotions and what behavior is acceptable (or not.)
Enter tender mercy of the day. When Stuart got home tonight she was so excited to play with him. In fact, when I was having a conversation with Stuart, she asked me to stop talking (in a surprisingly polite tone). I asked her why, and she told me that she wanted to play with her Daddy.
But that isn't the best part. Stuart was on the couch ready 1776 while I was proof-reading a friend's book (yes, I'm friends with a hopeful author, how exciting!) and I noticed that Alana was singing a song. I looked over and she was clinging to Stuart's neck singing "I love my Daddy, he's so cutiful, he sings to me and puts me to bed and reads me stories. He's a great Dad and he loves me and he's the best." Her song continued, and it was a melody she made up as she went, but it melted my heart. And my heart certainly needed to be softened toward her today. I really do love my dear little Lana-girl.
Can't wait for all the birthday fun this weekend!!
