Last night Brittney Warburton and I headed up to Logan to do Whitney's bridals. Whitney looked so beautiful, and it was fun to be with her and Julie, especially since my sisters don't get to see Alana very often. Brittney is a very talented photographer (well, I'm pretty sure she's just really talented at everything!)
We left Logan at about 9:30, and in Layton the left lanes were closed, and then the entire freeway closed, so we had to exit and detour. As we were taking the off-ramp (very slowly, traffic was backed up) suddenly my little cavalier wouldn't go anymore. I immediately turned on my flashers, as the car behind me honked. I told Brittney the car wouldn't start and the first thing that came to her mind was to pray. So she prayed (while I was mildly hyperventilating).
About 30 seconds later a highway patrol car appeared behind us. She told us to put it in nuetral and she would use her car to push ours off the freeway and onto the emergency lane. I called my parents, they left to come get us, and we tried to figure out what to do. Brittney called Seth, and we got a hold of Stuart.
The baby was sleeping in the back seat, but woke up while we were waiting there, so I nursed her, then Brittney played with her while I tried to figure out what to do.
The story could be really long, because we were on the side of the road for a few hours, but we figured out that we had emergency roadside service, so our insurance would pay to tow. We also are pretty sure the problems has something to do with the fuel filter we've been needing to change for about a year, but haven't yet. My parents got there, and then the highway patrolman who was directing traffic came and called a tow truck for us. We took the car to my dad's mechanic in West Valley, and then my brother (bless his heart) let us borrow one of his cars to get back to provo. We broke down at about 11 pm and got back to Provo at 3 am. It was a long night, but I really feel to count my blessings for a couple of reasons.
1. We could have broken down in the middle of the freeway and had nowhere to pull off that was safe. We were completely out of the way of traffic.
2. We really needed to change our fuel filter, so when our car gets fixed, it will run much better.
3. My parents are so close, and so amazing to bail us out.
4. My brother is so generous!
5. Brittney is really calm in stressful situations
6. The highway patrol was right there and they helped us so much!
7. Alana didn't cry during the whole ordeal. She was really tired in the end, but just slept in the car once it got going. I was grateful not to have a screaming baby, as that always escalates my stress level!
8. We didn't break down in Logan, which could have been worse!
9. My mom paid for my gas!
10. Brittney took pictures so that in a few days when we feel like laughing about it, we have something to remember!
I'll post the pictures later!!
Finally (I know this is long, sorry)
I mentioned to my parents that I'd never really had any "bad grown up stuff" happen, so I felt like my car breaking down was an adult experience, and I feel grown up (funny, I'm almost 25 and just starting to feel that way). My dad's comment was "hmm, you have a child, that seems pretty grown up to me." My mom on the other hand said "well, you've got a lot more years of life to experience grown up difficulties!" It's so nice to have parents! Thank you mom and dad!!!!

Ha ha ha. What a funny adventure! You did a good job of summing it up... I think I'll link to this post so I won't have to re-tell this story on my blog too. I'm SO glad we were together for this ordeal! I'll send you those pictures soon!
I'm so glad you weren't alone, too! We had the same thing happen because of the fuel filter. It'll work much better when it's fixed! And I'm with you on the feeling ungrown-up. But I still don't have any kids!
Wow Crys! I didn't even hear that story! I am SO sorry! I hate car problems, but I am glad you got home okay! It was sure fun seeing you guys, I love you!!
